Review “Vocabulary Development During Read-Alouds: Primary Practices” from Reading Rockets. Choose a children’s book that you would use as a read-aloud.

Select 1 of the 9 instructional strategies from the article (listed under the Instructional Strategies heading).

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

How would you use that strategy to teach vocabulary words from the read-aloud? Provide a specific example from your chosen book.

How might read-alouds be used as vehicles for vocabulary development across the content areas?

In addition to using read-alouds to introduce/teach vocabulary words, what are some extension activities you might use to reinforce the vocabulary after it is introduced with the book?
