RDG 350 Week 1 Children’s Literature Blog Favorite Book Share

The librarian for your school is concerned that students on campus are not familiar with children's literature. Many of the students who visit the library are more interested in surfing the Internet than reading a book. The librarian has asked you to create a blog about children's literature. She hopes that your blog will educate students and their parents about children's literature and build an appreciation for children's literature.

Read Ch. 2 and Ch. 3, of Blogs, wikis, podcasts, and other powerful web tools for classrooms.

Choose a platform to create a blog. You may use any of the following platforms to create a blog:

• Edublogs

• WordPress, located in the Technology Resource Library on the College of Education Resources page

• Platforms recommended in Ch. 3, of Blogs, wikis, podcasts, and other powerful web tools for classrooms 

• A blogging platform of your choice that is approved by your faculty member

Create a blog about children's literature.

Write a 175- to 350-word blog post about a favorite book that you read as a child. Think about your audience. Consider the following:

• Are you recommending this book to parents of children in your class?

• Are you sharing your book with students, thinking they will read the blog and decide to read your favorite book?

• Are you blogging for readers who read children's literature for fun?

Include the following:

• A statement of who your audience is

• A brief summary of the book (no spoilers)

• Why it is your favorite book

• Connections based on course content or grade level

Post a link to your blog for the class.

Submit a link to your blog in a Microsoft® Word document. The document should include your name and references formatted according to APA guidelines.
