EDU 311 Wk 5 - Signature Assignment: Lesson Observation, Interview, and Strategies Paper
Observation is an important component of learning to teach. Much of what a beginning teacher needs to be aware of cannot be taught just by physically sitting in a classroom or completing an online course. There is a great deal to be learned by watching someone do what you are in a program to learn.
This 3-part assignment provides an opportunity to observe a teacher teaching a lesson, followed by interviewing the same teacher about lesson planning, and writing a paper about the experience.
Part 1: Lesson Observation
Observe a teacher implementing a lesson in a classroom setting using the Lesson Observation and Interview Guide for support and to record your observation notes.
Part 2: Teacher Interview
Interview the same teacher you observed about lesson plan development using the Lesson Observation and Interview Guide for support and to record the interview responses.
Part 3: Strategies Paper
Write a 2-page paper to summarize your lesson observation and interview and discuss the instructional strategies you focused on during this field experience.
Include the following in your paper:
• Summary of the observation and interview
• Examples and descriptions of at least of 2 strategies to support each of the following teaching practices (total of 8):
